Privacy Policy
Element Market Research, Inc. is a primary market research company headquartered in Lexington, KY. All information we gather is strictly for market research purposes. We will never try to sell you anything, and we will never sell or give your personal information to anyone without your permission.
Survey Participation
Any and all information collected in our surveys will be used strictly for market research purposes and will be presented as a group or in aggregate. At no point will your individual responses be shared in association with your name or identity. Based on particular research needs, we may collect personal information such as, but not limited to, name, address, email address, and phone number. We do not collect or store sensitive information such as social security numbers or credit cards. Any information provided to us is purely for research purposes and will not be sold, distributed, or used in any internet-based advertising. Any personally identifiable information attached to such data will only be used for purposes stated in the collection mechanism (typically a survey). Other personal information will only be collected and/or used to contact you in the event that you have asked us to contact you for future surveys, to notify you that you are a prize winner, or to properly address and deliver a payment to you.
If you believe we have collected personally identifiable or sensitive data about you and wish to review it or have it removed, please contact us at info@elementmr.com with the subject line “Personal Data Information.” Please include the nature of the data in question and any associated products, surveys, or services to help us locate the information. For security reasons, we will not disclose actual data values, but can verify its existence and/or remove any personally identifiable information.
Security
We take several measures to ensure that your personal information is secure. We use a variety of security measures including, but not limited to, secure servers, advanced firewall technology, secure file transfer protocols (SFTP), and non web-accessible databases. By providing us with personal information, you consent to secure storage and secure transfer of said information for research purposes.
All survey data is stored on a secure database that is encrypted at rest and is not accessible to third parties. Real-Time Reporting pages, which display survey data to clients, are SSL encrypted and password protected. We make reasonable efforts to have security measures in place to protect the loss or misuse of the information we store. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information (such as, but not limited to, name, address, email address, and phone number), we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make reasonable efforts to ensure security on our systems, but cannot be held responsible for any damages or expenses resulting from the misuse of personal information that was taken by unlawful means.
Cookies
Unless explicitly stated at the beginning of a survey, our online surveys only make use of browser cookies to maintain session data and network load balancing efficiency. You may choose to change your browser settings to disallow the acceptance of cookies; however doing so may prevent the online survey from displaying and functioning properly.
In some use cases where explicitly stated, through the use of cookies, we may track and collect information about your computer and browser when you visit our site or a customer’s site that is participating in research that we are conducting. We may also write cookies to store information using tracking pixels placed on websites, ad links, banner ads, and other related media. The information stored can include, but not to the exclusion of, your IP address (minus the last octet), domain server, type of computer, type of web browser, access times, and referring websites addresses. This is general traffic data that does not personally identify you. This data is mostly used for diagnostics in improving the survey experience. We may also record a non-personal unique identifier that may also be used to track your use of our website or a client’s website in conjunction with your survey data. Such cookies typically expire after one year or less, and shall not exceed a life span of two years.
The unique identifier we assign in order to collect the above information is stored in the cookies located in your web browser and may be removed or blocked at any time through the settings in your browser. For assistance with identifying your browser cookies related to an Element survey, please contact us at info@elementmr.com with the subject line “Help with Cookies.”
Email
We often collect email addresses as part of the survey process. Emails collected by us will only be used for conducting research as described when the email was collected. We do not sell email addresses or send email lists to anyone besides the client conducting research. Most emails are used to send survey invitations to and to provide a way of contacting a respondent in order to provide an incentive or technical support. When we collect an email address, we provide clear indications as to why we are asking for it and what we will do with it. When you provide your email address, you are opting-in to the use of it as described.
It is also common for us to be provided with email lists by clients for the purpose of sending invitations to take a survey on the client’s behalf. We use these lists in good faith that our clients have obtained the emails legally and that recipients will understand why they are being emailed. If you do not wish to receive further emails, you may use the opt-out link at the bottom of the email to automatically remove your email address from future Element email invitations. Emails obtained from clients or third parties will not be used for any other purpose, including resale or internet based advertising.
